The Kindness Jar: A 7-Day Family Challenge to Raise More Thoughtful Kids

Part of the Kokomom Kindness Campaign

At Kokomom, we spend a lot of time thinking about childhood.

The magic of it. The softness. The wildness. The potential.

But more than anything, we dream about the kind of adults these little humans will grow up to be.

Will they be brave?

Creative?

Curious?

We hope so.

But more than anything, we hope they’ll be kind.

And like most things worth learning, kindness isn’t taught in one conversation.

It’s built slowly. In rituals. In routines. In tiny, consistent choices.

Introducing: The Kokomom Kindness Jar

This is your family’s new favorite tradition. One that takes five minutes a day, but leaves a lasting impact.

Here’s what you’ll need:

A jar (or box, mug, envelope)

Small paper slips

Pens or crayons

A little daily intention

How it works

Each evening, you and your child (or children!) write down one kind thing you’d like to do the next day.

It could be as simple as smiling at someone new. Or picking up three pieces of trash in their classroom. Or helping a sibling with their homework.

The next morning, draw a slip from the jar—and do it.

At the end of the week, gather and talk about how it felt.

You might be surprised by what sticks.

Kindness is more than niceness

It’s courage.

It’s empathy.

It’s choosing to care when it’s easier to look away.

When we help our kids practice kindness—not just preach it—we’re giving them tools they’ll use forever.

To be better friends. Partners. Colleagues. Humans.

This isn’t just about raising good kids.

It’s about nurturing good hearts.

Join the Kindness Campaign

This month, we’re inviting every Kokomom family to take the challenge.

And to share it with us!

Tag us on Instagram @kokomom.in using #KokomomKindness—we’re resharing favorite acts all through the month.

We’ve also created a downloadable Kindness Jar Printable—with 10 ready-to-go prompts you can cut out, decorate, and drop right into your jar.

Let’s create a ripple effect together.

One small act.

One thoughtful child.

One beautiful family at a time.

With hope and heart,

Riya & Raiva
